Several Topfield RCUs offer the ability to control multiple devices.
TP501
This RCU works with the TRF-2400, TRF-2460, TRF-2470, TFT-6000 and supports RCU mode 5. It allows you to control a Toppy, plus both a TV and a DVD player.
The following information was put together by Referee, and is based on the information in the TRF-2400 user manual.
The 2400 Universal Remote Control (TP501) allows you to operate the most important functions such as power on/off and volume control on your television, audio system, or DVD player. For the use of buttons, refer to the 2400 Universal Remote Control codes in the User Manual.
To be able to control the device, you must adapt the remote control to the device first.
Take the following steps:
- Turn on the device you want to operate.
- Point the remote control at the remote sensor on the device.
- Hold down the OK button and device button simultaneously for two seconds until LED lamp flashes on. For example, if you want to operate your television with the remote control, press the OK and TV buttons simultaneously. The TV button will remain lit.
- Find the manufacturer of the device from the codes list.
- Enter the three-digits code you have found for your device. (Ensure you do this whilst the device lamp is on).
- If the setting is finished correctly, LED lamp blinks twice and the device will be turned off.
- Press the OK button and the device button lamp will go out.
Note not all desired functions may work with the first or any accepted code. From the list try them till you get the desired functions. Ideally Power On/Off, Inputs ( i - button), Number Keys, Channel Change, Volume change might be the minimum requirement.
Otherwise, repeat from step 2.
If you cannot find a code for your device, do as follows:
- Turn on the device you want to operate.

- Hold down the OK and device button simultaneously for two seconds until LED lamp flashes on. For example, if you want to operate your television with the remote control, press the OK and TV buttons simultaneously.

- Press the i button. Then LED lamp will show the number with blinks. For example, if the number is 103, LED lamp will blink once for the number 1. In case of 0, LED lamp will blink ten times and for the three 3 times. So the blink sequence will be one blink, a pause, ten blinks, pause, three blinks.
You can reset the settings. To do that, do as follows:
- Hold down the TV button and 0 (zero) button simultaneously for at least five seconds.
- The device buttons will blink through in a recycle lit and off three times in the following order: TV PVR DVD AUX

TP857
This RCU supports the TRF-7260Plus, TRF-7160, TRP-5000 and the TF7100HDPVRt. It is a mode 1 RCU.
This RCU supports a Toppy plus a TV.
As this RCU is sold separately there appears to be no instruction manual for it. However the Topfield www site says that it supports the following Televisions:
Fujitsu, Loewe, JVC, LG, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Philips, Pioneer, Samsung, Sanyo, Sharp, Sony and Toshiba and some others.
The suspicion is that it is likely that the programming and reset methods and codes will work with the TP857.
